Deprecated Tags, Styles and Attributes

Deprecated Tag
3 things you learned

  1. They can still be used but will one day be obsolete.
  2. They are not supported by future HTML and XHTML.
  3. Cannot be read by HTML 5 and is replaced with style.
2 things that you will do with what you learn

  1.  I will no longer use deprecated tags so I can work more efficiently.
  2.  I know the meaning of the word deprecated and this will help me sometime in the future.
1 question in mind

  1.  Are deprecated tags going to be obsolete in the near future?

Styles
3 things you learned

  1. These tags are used in place of deprecated tags.
  2. Styles are supported by HTML 5.
  3. You can have multiple actions in one tag as compared to separate tags for font, text color, etc.
2 things that you will do with what you learn

  1. I can use styles to work more efficiently.
  2. Knowing the difference between deprecated tags and styles will surely help me on the final exam.
1 question in mind

  1. Is style supported by older versions of HTML?

Attributes
3 things you learned

  1. They are used to assign colors, styles, and alignment to a page
  2. Attributes can be used as a deprecated tag or styles.
  3. They make your page nicer to look at and not plain.
2 things that you will do with what you learn

  1. Make my page more aesthetically pleasing by changing background color.
  2. I can change the font to maybe give emphasis to certain words and make some words pop out from the rest.
1 question in mind

  1. Are there anymore attributes to learn about?

MORE Table Tags

Creating my schedule .... again:

  1. Well here is a another blog post about my experience in table tags! This week we learned more about different tags that can be used in a table. Although we did learn a little about attributes this week it was mainly focused on table tags.
  2. Three tags I learned this week are the cell padding, cell spacing, and horizontal align.
    • Cell padding specifies the space between the cell wall and the cell content. The tag for this is: <table cellpadding="no. of pixels">...</table>
    • Cell spacing specifies the space between cells. The tag for this is:  <table cellspacing="no. of pixels">...</table>
    • For horizontal align it specifies the alignment of a table according to its surrounding text. The tag for this is <table align="alignment">...</table>
  3. My overall experience this week was okay. The work was not too hard, so I did not have a hard time. I can already feel the work getting more and more complex. I can't wait.
  4. When do we get to use the align tags? Because we hardly went over them this week.
  5. This activity will help my critical thinking by allowing me to get used to discerning between horizontal and vertical... it will also help me discern between rows and columns. Sometimes I get those things mixed up. :( Hopefully I'll learn more on this journey of education and be able to fully get past the things that hinder my success!

Table Tags

 Creating my schedule:
  • One of our activities for this week was to create our class schedule from Monday to Friday using HTML. Our work in this class is starting to get more difficult and tedious.
  • Two of the tags I used in creating the schedule were the table header and table data tag. These tags are needed to make the schedule because it is part of the table syntax. Table header acts as the header for each column and table data is simply the data that would be put in each column. A third tag used to create my schedule was the header tag. I used this tag over the schedule to indicate which schedule was for what day of the week. So the header tag would contain a day of the week. :)
  • My overall experience with this assignment was okay. It was more work than I am usually used to in this class and I believe that is a good thing. I enjoyed this assignment because it challenged me to apply what we have learned so far in this class. Everyone in class was kind of stressed out because the work can get confusing at times. In the end everyone was able to finish and that's the only thing that matters.
  • Will this be part of our project for the 2nd quarter?
  • This activity helps me to develop my critical thinking by allowing me to comprehend my class schedule and organizing it accordingly. If not for this activity I would have never known that classes are 80 minutes long on Wednesdays!

Lists

·         Introduction
Lists are a good way to organize a set of words you might be wanting to display on your webpage! J So this is another lesson from my HS computer class. It’s always good to learn something new and this was something very new to me. :P I just know I need to know this because I’m 90 percent sure this will be on our final exam

·         Name and explain the html tags & its attributes that you use in lists.
There are two types of lists for html. We have ordered and unordered lists. For ordered lists you can enter a certain tag and it will either arrange them numerically, alphabetically, and by roman numerals. For unordered lists they aren’t arranged like ordered list but listed by bullets. By giving them a certain tag, the unordered lists’s bullets can either be “circle”, “square” or “disc”.

·         Say something about your overall experience while doing your work.
The ordered list part of the lesson was really easy for me. I believe it will be very useful when we have to do our project later this quarter. The unordered list part, however, was not so easy. I think I can say this was the hardest lesson yet. That’s kind of weird because I usually get everything. J I understand it know though. Like usual, I end up more than okay in the end. I hope that Mrs. Buenaflor will give us even more challenging exercises because I love a challenge.

My First HS Blog

When I was told I was going to start a blog I got kind of excited. I have always wondered what it would be like to start a blog and thanks to this class I finally get to have one. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it was. They’ve made it really simple to start a blog and anyone can do it. With this blog being a grade, I will surely be able to be up to date with this thing. I think blogs are an interesting form of getting your ideas and opinions across, so I know this will be an AMAZING experience. This blog will mostly be on what I do in my High School computer class. From time to time I may put other things, but for now it will be mainly about High School computer. I apologise in advance if this turns out boring. J I’ll try my best you guys satisfied.

What is a blog?
A blog is a place where you can express your ideas, opinions, feelings, etc. You can write about anything you want. It is a good way to make your interests public and maybe make friends along the way.

Write 3 ways how a blog can help you?
A blog can help you in many ways. By constantly updating your blog and reading other people’s blogs it can increase creativity, improve literacy, and is a good medium for expressing opinions.

Write 1 drawback of blog.
A drawback is that haters will always come along and try to bring you down, but you just can’t do that. You can’t let the haters bring you down!
